TerraWatt (terrawatt.news) is an independent energy news service. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

We deliberately collect as little as possible:

• Email address — if you subscribe to the TerraWatt Brief newsletter or write to us. We use it solely to send you the newsletter or reply to your message.
• Aggregated, anonymous traffic data — we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views and understand which stories are read. This data contains no personal identifiers and is not shared with advertising networks.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not run third-party ad trackers.

2. Why we may process your data (legal bases)

• Consent — sending the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every issue.
• Legitimate interest — replying to enquiries, protecting the site against abuse, and aggregate audience measurement.

3. Service providers

The site is hosted and served via Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Our newsletter is delivered by an email service provider that processes subscriber addresses strictly on our instructions. These providers act as data processors and are bound by contractual confidentiality obligations.

4. Your rights

Wherever you are located — including under the EU/UK GDPR — you may ask us to:

• confirm what personal data we hold about you;
• correct or delete it;
• export it in a portable format;
• withdraw consent for the newsletter at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email newsroom@terrawatt.news. We respond within 30 days.

5. Retention

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is kept for up to 24 months, after which it is deleted unless a longer retention is required by law.

6. Cookies

TerraWatt sets no marketing or tracking cookies. Only strictly functional cookies (for example, security tokens set by our hosting provider) may be used.

7. Changes

If we change this policy materially, we will announce it on this page and, for newsletter subscribers, in an issue of the Brief.
